How does our payroll process work?

Did you know that the average business owner spends around six hours a month on their payroll process? Just think about what else you could achieve in that time.

Angel Bookkeeping run a secure, reliable, cloud-based payroll outsourcing service solution for your business. We are professional experts who enable you to spend more time on the tasks you enjoy and make you money!

What is payroll?

Officially speaking, the term ‘payroll’ means a list of employees of a company that are entitled to receive payments. The payments received may also include other work benefits.

The word payroll is often used to describe the company department that handles employee’s pay. It also signifies a company’s records of previous payments to employees. These include; gross pay, deductions, tax and NIC, benefits (if you have them) and net pay.

You might manage all of the payroll process yourself or outsource some or all aspects to a payroll processing company.

More often than not, companies process their payroll at regular intervals, usually monthly or weekly. It can vary in each company and with different types of employees.

What is CIS?

The Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) is the process whereby a contractor deducts money from a subcontractor’s payments. The deducted amount is then passed onto HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). Each deduction counts as an advance payment towards the subcontractor’s annual tax and National Insurance contributions.

All contractors must register for CIS. Subcontractors must also register, because if they don’t, they will pay a higher deduction rate.

CIS covers most construction work, including; laying foundations and providing access works, demolition and dismantling, building work, alterations, repairs and decorating, installing systems for heating, lighting, power, water and ventilation and cleaning the inside of buildings after construction work.

What to expect from our payroll and CIS services

At Angel Bookkeeping, we use BrightPay. BrightPay is an HMRC recognised desktop-based payroll software that we have been utilising for many years. Using this software, we calculate how much you should pay each employee at your chosen payment intervals. This can be weekly, monthly, fortnightly or on a rotating 4-week basis. We also calculate how much you need to transfer to HMRC for tax and National Insurance Contributions (NIC).

So that we can work well and efficiently together, we get you and your organisation set up on BrightPay. You can then use the BrightPay app to send us details of your teams’ working patterns and the number of hours your staff have worked. This helps to avoid unnecessary errors or working with dreaded spreadsheets!

We produce electronic payslips which you and your staff can access via the BrightPay app. We look after your employees’ tax codes and pension contributions. As well as this, we ensure any statutory payments are correctly calculated and deal with any individual earning attachment orders. We take care of all your paperwork and complete your year-end tasks including issuing P60 forms.

If you work in construction, we are CIS proficient and will calculate and submit your Construction Industry Scheme returns.

We can process up to 100 staff at any one time.

Payroll mistakes can be confusing, costly and upset your staff. Hiring an expert means you can avoid these mistakes, and never have to worry about missing a payday deadline again.

Your staff will be happy and always paid on time. You’ll be happy because this complicated and time-consuming task is being taken care of by an expert.
